About this role

Mechanical Design Engineer I at Westinghouse responsible for designing mechanical systems and components for nuclear market projects and next-generation nuclear technology. You will develop 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and test procedures while providing technical oversight to junior engineers. This role supports robotic tooling and electro-mechanical systems deployed in nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical tooling
  • Assemble and test custom equipment through design evolution from prototype to finished product
  • Develop test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Operate final tooling systems in customer nuclear facilities
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring of junior engineering team members
  • Perform classical hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to qualify systems and components against applicable nuclear codes and standards
  • Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications

Location, schedule, and travel

Hybrid role (2 days onsite per week) at Burlington, Kitchener, or Peterborough, Ontario office
