Lead Project Engineer
About this role
Lead engineering design and delivery of AP1000 nuclear reactor projects from initiation through completion. Provide technical leadership, manage cross-functional engineering teams, and ensure compliance with NRC regulations and industry standards while supporting Westinghouse's clean energy mission.
Responsibilities
- —Lead planning, design, and execution of AP1000 engineering projects, ensuring alignment with goals and NRC/industry standards
- —Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for cost-effective, on-time delivery
- —Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, clients, and vendors to define technical requirements and resolve design challenges
- —Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, safety standards, and company policies throughout all project phases
- —Identify project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- —Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members
- —Conduct feasibility studies and scope development reviews for project optimization
- —Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and project outcomes
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
- —7+ years of project engineering/management experience with progressively increased responsibilities in nuclear or heavy industrial environments
- —Demonstrated success leading large-scope engineering projects
- —Knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and NRC regulatory standards
- —Proficiency with project management software (Primavera, Microsoft Project)
- —Strong leadership and cross-departmental collaboration experience
- —Valid passport; willingness to travel internationally (Poland project support)
Desired
- —Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- —Experience with Westinghouse nuclear products (AP1000, AP300, eVinci) or similar PWR designs
Location
Hybrid from Cranberry Township, Pittsburgh, PA; 2 days per week onsite; international travel required
