Lead Commissioning Engineer
About this role
Lead a team of ~10 engineers delivering commissioning and engineering services at a nuclear facility. Combines technical expertise in plant systems, asset management, and regulatory compliance with strong leadership, team development, and project management capabilities. Requires engineering background (apprenticeship + degree or equivalent) with nuclear industry experience highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- —Lead and manage ~10 engineers: motivation, performance management, and professional development
- —Deliver frontline engineering services; oversee assigned plant assets ensuring safe, compliant, efficient maintenance and operation
- —Prepare, deliver, and manage Plant Modification Proposals (PMPs) through formal initiation, approval, and installation processes
- —Identify and resolve recurring plant issues; coordinate effective corrective maintenance actions
- —Ensure full regulatory and safety compliance (10 CFR, company policies); manage safety, cost, and quality performance
- —Monitor plant performance via observations, log reviews, historical data; recommend and implement improvements
- —Conduct regular plant walkdowns to assess conditions, operational performance, and environmental impacts
- —Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Reliability teams to improve work delivery and plant availability
- —Diagnose system and component issues; engage specialists for short and long-term solutions
- —Lead delivery and integration of plant engineering team; manage resources for planned outages and major activities
- —Act as deputy to Operations Manager as required
Qualifications
- —Minimum 10 years experience in similar engineering leadership role
- —Engineering background: completed time-served apprenticeship + formal engineering degree or equivalent
- —Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- —Strong mathematical and literacy skills
- —Proficient IT skills
- —Ability to obtain UK security clearance
- —Full UK Driving License

Location
Onsite at Westlakes, UK. Hybrid arrangement. Full UK Driving License required.
