Required qualifications
BS degree in Engineering or related field; minimum 3 years of experience in software development, software quality assurance, or V&V (preferably in regulated industries); working knowledge of C/C++ and software development practices; strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated questioning attitude
About this role
Perform Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of nuclear power plant safety system software to ensure compliance with design requirements and regulatory standards. Conduct code reviews, validate through testing, verify requirement traceability, document anomalies, and support NRC and customer inspections.
Responsibilities
- Review safety system functional and design specifications to verify software requirements meet specified requirements
- Conduct code reviews and validate safety system software through unit and module level testing
- Verify requirement decomposition from system design to software requirements via Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) review
- Document anomalies, track resolutions, and create verification and test reports
- Investigate and document inconsistencies and inaccuracies in software documentation and code with IV&V technical leads and design engineers
- Interface with system test engineers to ensure test coverage across module, unit, and system test planning
- Collect project metrics, identify recurring issues, and report project health status
- Support internal and external inspections and audits by quality assurance, customers, and regulators
Preferred qualifications
Software development or IV&V experience in embedded systems or control systems; knowledge of scripting languages (Python, C#); experience with DOORS or requirements management tools; familiarity with IEEE 1012 and nuclear industry codes and standards
