Instructor Operations
About this role
The Operations Instructor designs, develops, and delivers accredited operator training across classroom and simulator settings for nuclear power plant personnel. This role supports all operator training programs—from non-licensed to Senior Reactor Operator (SRO)—and maintains qualifications including SRO Certification. Based at Xcel Energy nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- —Analyze and design training curricula for non-licensed operator, licensed operator, Shift Manager, and Shift Technical Advisor programs
- —Develop and conduct classroom and simulator-based training for all operator certification levels
- —Develop, administer, and evaluate examinations for operator training programs
- —Pursue and maintain instructor qualifications including general instructor, simulator booth operator, SRO Certification, and simulator floor instructor credentials
- —Conduct self-assessments and evaluations of operator training program effectiveness
- —Support in-processing for contract employees during plant outages
- —Transition to plant operations staff during lengthy refueling outages
- —Function as member of the site Emergency Response Organization (ERO)
- —Maintain training program documentation and manage Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) per NRC requirements
- —Support Operations group daily activities and training needs
Qualifications
- —Expertise or demonstrated familiarity with power plant operations
- —Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- —Demonstrated ability to present technical training material to diverse class sizes and experience levels
- —Organizational and administrative skills to produce, maintain, and deliver accredited performance-based training
- —Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- —Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems
- —Ability to satisfy Company and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) security requirements
- —Ability to obtain and maintain Reactor Operator (RO), Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license, or SRO Certification

- —Technical expertise in electrical and mechanical maintenance, health physics, or chemistry
