About this role
Fuel Rod Design Senior Engineer at Westinghouse performing standard and non-standard fuel performance analyses for US and international nuclear customers. Analyze fuel rod heat transfer, fission product retention, and provide inputs to safety analyses. Work with customers and internal teams to support safe plant operations through rigorous technical analysis and design optimization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fuel performance analyses to confirm fuel rods safely produce and transfer heat to the reactor coolant system and prevent release of fission byproducts
- Provide initial fuel rod conditions as input to downstream safety analyses
- Participate in training and obtain qualifications in Fuel Performance Functional Area
- Resolve technical issues and provide leadership for complex, emergent industry problems, redesigns, and model development
- Interface with customers and other Westinghouse departments to support safe plant operation
- Support and lead special projects including advanced plant designs, plant chemistry programs, and new fuel product development with new cladding and materials
- Provide expertise and consultation to technical panels, reviews, committees, regulators, customers, and partners on Fuel Performance topics
- Support code, procedure, and method development updates
Preferred qualifications
Fuel Performance related experience.
