Fluid Systems Engineer I
About this role
Fluid Systems Engineer I at Westinghouse designing thermal-hydraulic and piping systems for nuclear plants. This role combines engineering design, equipment sizing (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC), and cross-discipline collaboration in a hybrid setting at our Vila-seca, Tarragona office.
Responsibilities
- —Perform thermal-hydraulic and piping network engineering design
- —Develop pump, valve, tank, heat exchanger, HVAC, and other equipment sizing requirements for plant design or modifications
- —Identify technical issues and propose practical solutions for assigned projects
- —Support engineering staff in design and analysis activities
- —Coordinate with I&C, electrical, civil/structural, licensing, and layout disciplines across diverse projects and design changes
- —Communicate progress, technical challenges, and results to technical lead and project management
- —Collaborate with construction, I&C, electrical, and operations teams, representing the discipline internally and externally
- —Participate in customer, vendor, and regulatory meetings, presenting technical material and explaining design decisions
- —Complete work within defined scope, budget, and schedule constraints
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering
- —1+ years of experience in similar fluid systems or thermal-hydraulic engineering role
- —Proficiency with MathCad, MATLAB, VBA, FATHOM, or ARROW
- —Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, ASHRAE, NFP, or API standards
- —Fluent in Spanish and English
- —Ability to travel to Westinghouse and customer sites (international travel included)

- —Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering
Location
Vila-seca, Tarragona, Spain; hybrid 70% on-site / 30% remote; international travel required
