Field Service Technician
About this role
Field Service Technician for Westinghouse supporting the preparation, maintenance, testing, and operation of specialized remote-controlled mechanical and electromechanical equipment used during nuclear power plant outages worldwide. Responsibilities include repairing remote-controlled tools (milling, drilling, EDM, bolting systems), commissioning new equipment, collaborating with engineering teams on validation and troubleshooting, and on-site equipment operation at nuclear facilities globally.
Responsibilities
- —Repair and maintenance of specialized remote-controlled equipment (milling, drilling, Electric Discharge Machining, bolting systems)
- —Commission and test newly designed equipment; support Product and Development Engineers during testing phases including parameter development, validation, and troubleshooting
- —Install, configure, and troubleshoot software on computers and control units including network setup
- —Operate specialized equipment on-site at nuclear power plants worldwide
- —Manufacture or modify electrical and mechanical components; assemble equipment and tooling
- —Collaborate cross-departmentally and internationally with teams in multiple countries
Qualifications
- —Minimum 3 years of experience in a technician or skilled worker role
- —Strong mechanical and/or electrotechnical aptitude
- —Basic knowledge of computers, software installation, and networking
- —Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, procedures)
- —English proficiency: minimum A2 level
- —Problem-solving mindset and teamwork skills
Desired
- —English proficiency B1 or higher
- —Local language proficiency (Germany, Spain, Belgium) at native level or C1/C2 equivalent
- —Willingness to travel internationally and work in nuclear plant outage environments
Location
Based in Mannheim, Germany; hybrid arrangement; international travel required for on-site nuclear plant work; must be willing to work in outage environments.
