ETC - Safety Specialist
About this role
Safety Specialist at Urenco USA's uranium enrichment facility in Eunice, NM, responsible for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) program compliance, regulatory audits, and incident management. Role includes fire protection oversight, waste management, first aid coordination, and backup QA support.
Responsibilities
- —Conduct monthly fire protection inspections, transient combustibles management, and facility walk-downs
- —Manage first aid programs (kit inspections, eyewash stations, CPR/AED documentation) and workers' compensation support
- —Oversee non-hazardous and hazardous waste satellite sites; maintain MSDS compliance across all locations
- —Lead preparation and execution of ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 audits; perform root cause analysis on safety incidents
- —Coordinate SUSA (Stop, Understand, Seek, Ask) activities and safety training for all staff
- —Develop, monitor, and track site safety goals and safety observation trends
- —Lead ETC USA environmental initiatives and health programs; serve on HSE and Safety Committees
Qualifications
High School Diploma; 3+ years as Safety Specialist managing HSE programs (OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 18001); ability to complete Supervisor Safety Management Training; current or ability to obtain first aid/CPR certification; Q level security clearance and CAA (Cognizant Agency Access) eligibility required.
Desired
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, Chemistry, or related field; 5+ years Safety Specialist experience including environmental programs; Industrial Safety Professional (CSP, ASP, or equivalent) certification.
Location
Eunice, NM; 9/80 work schedule; up to 10% travel locally and internationally as needed; professional office environment with potential radiological exposure.
