About this role
Constellation seeks an Environmental Specialist to provide technical, regulatory, and program support for nuclear facility environmental compliance. You'll manage environmental permits, waste regulations, and projects while serving as a subject matter expert interfacing with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- —Provide technical guidance and regulatory support for environmental programs including Air Permits, NPDES permits, hazardous waste, SPCC, SARA/EPCRA, and ISO/EMS compliance
- —Serve as program administrator for assigned compliance programs that directly affect facility compliance status
- —Manage environmental projects including scope development, proposal evaluation, funding solicitation, timeline management, and budget oversight
- —Represent the site during internal and external environmental audits
- —Develop and deliver environmental training to site personnel
- —Interface with regulatory agencies to obtain approvals, permits, certifications, and licenses for environmental projects and pollution control systems
- —React to and assist with emergent environmental issues affecting the station and fleet
- —Serve as technical expert in meetings with regulatory agencies, engineering consultants, and legal counsel
- —Evaluate new technologies, processes, and programs and recommend actions for nuclear operations
- —Interact with industry trade groups and regulatory agencies to expand knowledge and provide insights
- —Perform emergency response, departmental coverage, and outage support as directed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, or related program
- —2 years of experience working with environmental programs (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, SARA, RCRA, or other environmental program areas)
- —Experience presenting issues and advocating positions
- —Base level knowledge of Federal and State Environmental statutes and regulations
- —Ability to maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements and pass favorable medical examination/testing
Desired
- —6 years of experience working with environmental programs
- —Minimum 2 years of experience presenting issues and advocating positions
- —Demonstrated knowledge of multi-media Federal and State Environmental statutes and regulations
