Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree. Minimum 10 years of professional experience with exceptional performance (upper quartile rating for last 2 years). Superior regulatory/technical expertise in a specific area (e.g., licensing actions, reportability, performance improvement). Effective written and oral communication skills. Approval of VP Licensing & Regulatory Affairs. Maintain unescorted access requirements and pass favorable medical examination per position duties.

About this role

Principal Regulatory Engineer providing advanced regulatory and technical problem-solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Requires superior expertise in nuclear regulatory compliance, licensing basis management, and industry codes (10 CFR 50, INPO standards) to ensure safe and reliable plant performance.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced regulatory and technical analyses in support of nuclear plant operations. Conduct independent research, reviews, and studies for regulatory/technical projects. Develop, manage, and implement regulatory activities related to plant safety, reliability, and availability while ensuring compliance with NRC requirements and corporate policies. Maintain licensing basis management and adherence to design criteria, regulations, and codes. Provide regulatory/technical expertise to identify and resolve regulatory issues, including those associated with plant design modifications and testing. Manage regulatory issues from identification through resolution. Recommend process improvements to reduce regulatory burden or comply with regulatory changes. Verify regulatory products comply with applicable procedures, licensing basis, and industry codes. Perform emergency response duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications

Previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license/certification. Advanced technical degree or related coursework.

Location, schedule, and travel

Onsite at nuclear facility; subject to emergency response call-out and outage support coverage requirements.
