Engineer - Nuclear- Remote
About this role
1-year contract engineering role with Westinghouse supporting nuclear power plant design modifications. Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C Engineers with 4+ years of nuclear experience will oversee system upgrades, manage vendor interfaces, and ensure regulatory compliance using the NEI Standard Design Process.
Responsibilities
- —Design modifications for equipment upgrades and obsolete component replacements across varying complexity levels
- —Oversee system modifications spanning multiple vendors and engineering disciplines, managing interfaces between legacy and modern systems while maintaining nuclear safety and regulatory compliance
- —Coordinate project execution as primary technical contact across operations teams, engineering staff, external vendors, and regulatory agencies
- —Apply NEI Standard Design Process and nuclear configuration management to ensure modifications comply with relevant technical standards within your discipline
- —Mentor engineering personnel on nuclear electrical/I&C concepts, digital technology applications, and nuclear design change practices
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or I&C Engineering
- —Minimum 4 years of nuclear power plant experience
- —At least 2 years working with NEI Standard Design Process at an operating nuclear utility
- —Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and standards
- —Experience with 10 CFR 50.59 Applicability Determinations and Screening processes
- —Working knowledge of nuclear power plant systems
