Engineer II
About this role
Engineer II role at Westinghouse developing inspection criteria and performing structural analysis for nuclear power plant reactor vessel internals. You'll apply ASME Code, FEA tools, and materials science to ensure safe long-term operation of critical reactor components through design qualification, degradation evaluation, and industry guidance development.
Responsibilities
- —Develop inspection acceptance criteria for nuclear power plant components, including acceptable bolting patterns and flaw acceptance criteria for material degradation
- —Perform calculations and apply ASME Code to design and analysis of reactor vessel internals components using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering tools
- —Qualify replacement reactor internals components for plant operation through structural evaluations including stress and fatigue analysis
- —Evaluate degradation observed in plant components to permit continued operation
- —Support generic projects developing industry guidance and requirements for safe long-term operation of nuclear power plant reactor vessel internals components
Qualifications
- —3+ years of experience
- —BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or recognized equivalent
- —Understand design documents such as drawings and calculation summaries
- —Willing to complete a rotational assignment at a domestic plant site
Desired
- —Experience with or knowledge of materials science
