Required qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Structural Engineering with relevant experience. Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL).

About this role

Engineer I in Westinghouse's Structural Design & Analysis Group, performing thermal and structural analysis of reactor components using ASME Code compliance. Translate performance and structural requirements into engineering solutions for nuclear reactor systems, reporting to the Director of Reactor Component Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute design and analysis plans from preliminary through final design phases for reactor components
  • Qualify component designs using ANSYS-based FEA (thermal and structural), closed-form analytical methods, and Westinghouse internal engineering codes
  • Collaborate with systems, manufacturing, and component engineering teams to ensure subsystem integration and resolve design and production issues
  • Deliver engineering work meeting safety, quality, and schedule requirements per ASME Code standards
