About this role

Electrical or Mechanical Design Engineer supporting safe, reliable operations of Xcel Energy's Welch, MN nuclear generation facility. Lead complex plant modifications, engineering evaluations, design basis documentation, and troubleshooting of nuclear power plant systems. Responsible for electrical analysis, design basis oversight, and compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

—Perform, lead, or oversee highly technical plant modifications and complex engineering evaluations
—Lead troubleshooting of nuclear power plant systems, conduct calculations, and operability determinations
—Maintain design basis documents and resolve complex Corrective Action issues
—Develop and manage schedules for engineering-related activities using work management tools
—Oversee the plant's electrical analysis and design basis
—Become proficient with electrical analysis software ETAP
—Review and assess existing and new design documents, programs, procedures, and contracts
—Perform engineering analyses and project management
—Assume emergency response duties as required

Qualifications

—Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field from an ABET-accredited institution
—Engineering experience with high performance ratings
—Engineer I: 0 years minimum experience; Engineer II: 2 years minimum experience
—Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for unescorted access to nuclear power plants
—Ability to obtain and maintain General Security Clearance and Nuclear Security Clearance
—Must reside within 30–60 minutes of the Welch, MN facility
—Must maintain nuclear fitness for duty requirements if designated for emergency response
