Director Cybersecurity Operations
About this role
PSEG seeks a Director of Cybersecurity Operations to lead enterprise-wide cybersecurity defense across nuclear and conventional generation assets. This senior role oversees internal SOC (Security Operations Center) and third-party providers, manages threat detection and incident response, and serves as lead cyber incident commander during security events. The position requires expertise in both IT and OT (operational technology) security critical to nuclear facility protection.
Responsibilities
- —Lead development and implementation of enterprise-wide cybersecurity operations including SOC, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management across nuclear and non-nuclear business lines
- —Serve as lead cyber incident commander during cybersecurity incidents, directing containment, eradication, and recovery of critical systems
- —Oversee internal SOC operations and manage third-party cybersecurity service providers; plan, develop, and maintain SOC with multi-disciplined teams across vendor platforms
- —Define and align cybersecurity policies, strategy, and standards across the organization; ensure adherence to cybersecurity controls with focus on automation
- —Assess IT and OT architecture against business needs and future requirements for SOC alignment; determine cybersecurity requirements through business strategy evaluation and risk assessments
- —Coordinate across all business lines, service departments, and external organizations including law enforcement and peer energy companies
- —Verify compliance with regulatory and legal requirements applicable to nuclear operations
- —Lead teams across IT, OT, and managed services environments; direct, coach, and counsel internal/external cyber resources
- —Prepare senior-level technical reports and present at Cyber Council, Senior Executive Team, and Board of Directors meetings
- —Manage relationships and negotiate contracts with third-party service providers
Qualifications
- —Senior-level cybersecurity operations leadership experience
- —Deep knowledge of SOC operations, threat detection, and incident response
- —Strong understanding of enterprise IT and OT (operational technology) security architectures
- —Experience managing third-party cybersecurity service providers
- —Knowledge of cybersecurity controls, standards, and regulatory requirements (preferably in energy sector or critical infrastructure)
- —Ability to make emergency decisions during active cyber incidents
- —Experience leading large technical teams
- —Executive communication and presentation skills for C-suite and board-level audiences
Location
Hybrid flexible work arrangement (5-8 days onsite per month); based at PSEG location
