About this role
Senior Engineer role at Westinghouse performing thermal hydraulic design and digital monitoring/protection systems analysis. You'll conduct reactor safety analyses, determine design bases and limits, and provide technical leadership on complex nuclear engineering projects for US and international customers, with focus on COLSS and CPCS systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform standard and non-standard COLSS and CPCS analysis work for US and international customers following approved methodologies and regulatory guidelines
- Determine design bases and limits meeting safety and regulatory criteria for plant, reactor core, and fuel design
- Measure thermal margins and evaluate risks to plant safety and fuel performance
- Provide plant startup support and resolve technical issues with emergent and industry problems
- Lead redesigns, model development, and interface with customers and other departments to support safe plant operation
- Resolve technical issues and provide leadership for special projects including advanced plant designs, plant chemistry programs, and new fuel product development
- Support expertise and consultation to technical panels, reviews, committees, regulators, and customers on COLSS/CPCS topics
- Support code, procedure, and method development updates
Preferred qualifications
Statistical analysis experience; COLSS/CPCS related experience with familiarity in subchannel codes and Combustion Engineering (CE) Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS); comfortable leading meetings and developing/delivering presentations; computer simulation, programming skills, and Linux experience; Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
