Required qualifications
- Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
- Registered member of the applicable professional association in Spain (Colegiado en la rama de ingeniería correspondiente)
- Eligibility to act as Design/Project Engineer for projects requiring formal authorization
- 5+ years of experience in Civil or Mechanical-Structural Engineering roles in nuclear, energy, oil & gas, civil construction, or similar industries
- Knowledge of Structural Eurocodes and Spanish Structural Code
- Knowledge of nuclear-related standards (ACI, AISC, ASME, NRC, and CSN guidelines)
- Knowledge of Spanish and European standards (UNE EN ISO)
- Proficiency with engineering software tools (ANSYS, GTStrudl, or RFEM)
- Fluent in Spanish and English
About this role
Join Westinghouse's Civil Structural Architectural Department as a Civil Structural Engineer on nuclear energy projects. You'll execute independent design, analysis, and documentation tasks for structural systems supporting nuclear facilities, working hybrid from Madrid headquarters while collaborating with global engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Execute independent engineering tasks and assume technical responsibility for assigned projects
- Review and verify engineering work performed by others, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards
- Resolve technical issues, justify design decisions, and interpret engineering data
- Develop project design bases, detailed specifications, technical reports, calculations, and sizing analyses
- Originate and validate engineering deliverables including drawings, design reviews, change control documents, and calculation notes
- Ensure all work complies with applicable engineering codes, standards, and internal procedures
- Deliver engineering outputs within defined scope, schedule, and budget
- Prepare documentation that is technically sound, grammatically correct, and properly formatted
- Lead development of formal project documentation required for construction or installation permits in Spain as Design/Project Author
- Collaborate within global Westinghouse Engineering framework and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers
Preferred qualifications
- Ability for occasional travel to client facilities

Madrid headquarters in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Spain; hybrid role (50% on-site, 50% remote at discretion)
