About this role
Civil & Structural Engineer II at Westinghouse delivering independent engineering contributions on large, complex nuclear projects. You'll serve as the discipline's technical point of contact, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with nuclear codes, standards, and CDM regulations across design, construction, and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- —Act as main technical contributor and point of contact for Civil & Structural engineering activities across assigned nuclear projects
- —Deliver engineering tasks independently with full ownership of technical outcomes, including design bases, specifications, calculations, and sizing analyses
- —Review and validate engineering work from consultants and subcontractors to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to codes and standards
- —Develop and verify engineering deliverables: drawings, design reviews, change control documents, calculation notes, and technical reports
- —Resolve technical issues, justify design decisions, interpret engineering data, and ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, CDM regulations, and internal procedures
- —Present Civil & Structural designs to clients and stakeholders with clear communication tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
- —Deliver engineering outputs within scope, schedule, and budget while managing commercial impacts
- —Mentor junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering
- —Minimum 5 years of Civil & Structural engineering experience, ideally within the nuclear sector
- —Understanding of engineering codes, standards, and regulations including CDM
- —Proven expertise in Civil & Structural design principles and technical documentation
- —Experience in civil construction and construction management
- —Ability to pass Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) clearance checks
Desired
- —Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- —Experience in energy, oil & gas, or civil construction sectors
- —Knowledge of seismic, blast, and impact load design
- —Familiarity with main systems and technical equipment associated with large facilities and production plants
Location
