Required qualifications
- Minimum three years of welding experience with piping and pressure vessels
- Ability to perform GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and brazing on pressure and non-pressure components
- Must successfully pass Dominion Generation pre-employment welding test
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Able to become respirator qualified
- Comfortable working at heights exceeding 100 feet (scaffolding, rooftops, elevated platforms, ladders, man baskets)
- Able to tolerate extreme temperatures (hot and cold)
About this role
Dominion Generation seeks a Welder 1st Class for our St. Paul, Virginia nuclear facility. This role involves performing precision welding operations on pressure vessels, piping components, valves, and structural steel using multiple welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, brazing) in support of nuclear power station maintenance and outage activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform oxygen and acetylene torch operations and welding on pressure vessels, piping components, valves, and structural steel
- Execute GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and brazing on pressure and non-pressure components
- Travel for extended periods (up to one month or more) to support other station outages
- Work overtime and night shifts as scheduled
Preferred qualifications
- Power station welding experience
- Pipefitting experience
- Layout, print reading, and component fabrication skills
Location, schedule, and travel
St. Paul, Virginia. Typical schedule 06:00–14:30 with overtime and night shift availability required. Travel up to one month or more. Must work at heights exceeding 100 feet and in extreme temperatures.
