Turbine Engineer - Mechanical
About this role
Develops, plans, and executes turbine-generator projects across Ameren Missouri's fleet of steam, combustion, and hydro turbines. Provides technical expertise on designs, inspections, operations, and repairs to optimize equipment reliability, safety, and performance at multiple generating facilities including nuclear power plants.
Responsibilities
- —Develop engineering solutions, cost/schedule estimates, risk assessments, and maintenance/repair/replacement specifications for turbine-generator equipment
- —Determine maintenance and replacement requirements; plan and direct maintenance outages and testing activities
- —Procure contractor services and oversee their work, including supervision of consultants and field service engineers
- —Procure and quality-check materials required for turbine-generator projects
- —Provide engineering assistance to energy centers on maintenance and operational issues related to turbine-generator equipment
- —Monitor industry trends and perform engineering studies to improve turbine-generator reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety
- —Develop and review design alterations consistent with Ameren's Design Change Process
- —Optimize equipment availability using predictive/analytical technologies including PiVision, vibration analysis, fluid analysis, and electrical signal analysis
- —Prepare reports, job requisitions, work orders, and maintain records and engineering drawings
- —Travel between Ameren generating facilities and vendor facilities to monitor equipment repairs and support operations
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
Desired
Experience with steam turbine or combined cycle turbine-generator maintenance, operations, or project management at fossil and/or nuclear power plants; knowledge of turbine control systems, digital plant controls, and monitoring instrumentation; large rotating machinery vibration analysis and balancing experience; pursuit of professional registrations and/or advanced degrees
Location
Significant travel required between Ameren generating facilities and vendor facilities; subject to extended working hours, nights, weekends, and holiday coverage
