Turbine Engineer - Electrical
About this role
Turbine Engineer - Electrical role responsible for developing, planning and executing projects while providing technical expertise on generators, exciters and associated electrical equipment within the Ameren fleet. This position requires hands-on engineering solutions for maintenance, repair, testing and optimization of generator/exciter systems across nuclear, fossil, and combustion turbine power generation facilities.
Responsibilities
- —Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, maintenance and repair specifications for fleet-wide generator/exciter systems
- —Determine maintenance requirements and operational standards, plan and direct maintenance outages and testing, and coordinate projects involving generator/exciter equipment and related systems
- —Perform testing, validate models and provide documentation to meet all generator/exciter regulatory requirements
- —Provide engineering assistance to Ameren Energy Centers on maintenance and operational issues associated with generator/exciter systems
- —Interface with industry contacts, professional organizations, suppliers and consultants on equipment issues and repair practices; develop supplier relationships and validate capabilities
- —Monitor industry trends regarding operation and maintenance of assigned equipment
- —Develop, review and implement innovative solutions that improve generator/exciter system performance and reliability using predictive technologies
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university; five or more years of power plant engineering and/or maintenance and operations experience at fossil, nuclear, or combustion turbine energy centers.
Desired
Experience with maintenance and operations of generators/exciters; analytical, communication, computer and leadership skills; understanding of equipment construction and operation with willingness to implement creative solutions; pursuit of professional registrations and/or advanced degrees.
Location
Subject to significant travel between Ameren generating facilities in central and eastern Missouri, including nuclear facilities; extended working hours, nights/weekend/holiday coverage, and travel to vendor facilities; onsite at multiple power generation locations.
