Travel I&E Tech I, II, III - Turbine/Generator Centerline Instrumentation
About this role
Travel-based Instrumentation & Electrical Technician supporting nuclear power plant operations across Duke Energy facilities in the Carolinas. You'll perform calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and control systems critical to reactor operations, with travel up to 100% of the time.
Responsibilities
- —Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and control systems in a safe and reliable manner
- —Execute assigned maintenance activities independently or within team settings; read and interpret I&C and electrical control drawings, work orders, and plans
- —Communicate work progress and difficulties to co-workers and leadership; maintain housekeeping standards and ensure no reportable incidents in assigned areas
- —Develop proficiency with calibration equipment, specialty tooling, and company software (Maximo, CAS, Tags Pro, eSOMs, Nantel)
- —Understand and follow all applicable safety standards and use human performance tools; obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access
- —Assist in quality control and productivity management
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or equivalent
- —One year of relevant work experience
- —Successfully complete EEI's Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS)
- —Obtain and maintain nuclear facility access
- —Obtain DOT medical card
- —Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work within 275 lb weight restriction
- —Physical capability to stand, walk, stoop, climb ladders/stairs, work at heights, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
Desired
- —Experience with turbine/generator instrumentation
- —One year closely related experience with electronic equipment
- —Experience troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment
- —Experience reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and one-line drawings
- —Experience utilizing electrical and instrumentation test equipment
- —Experience with lockout/tagout procedures
- —Current nuclear access
Location
Based at nuclear facilities in NC or SC; up to 100% travel required; must live within reasonable daily commute to assigned location; shift work, weekends, and overtime expected; exposure to extreme weather, high temperatures/pressures, rotating machinery, and confined spaces.
