About this role

Maintain and repair Entergy's vehicle fleet including bucket trucks, digger derricks, and heavy equipment used in nuclear power plant support and transmission operations. Perform diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and engines while supporting safe operations across multiple job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, repairs, and diagnostics on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems, gas and diesel engines, and mobile hydraulic systems
  • Service aerial devices, digger derricks, medium/heavy duty trucks, light duty vehicles, forklifts, and off-road equipment
  • Conduct Federal Department of Transportation inspections and maintain compliance with DOT, DOE, and OSHA regulations
  • Travel to various job site locations to perform field service work and repairs
  • Prepare and complete work orders with proper coding, documentation of cause/correction, mileage, hours, and maintenance activities
  • Dismantle vehicles and equipment in preparation for repairs
  • Operate forklift, overhead crane, and other equipment for loading/unloading during fleet operations
  • Order parts accurately and ensure proper return of used or miss-ordered parts
  • Perform routine maintenance including filter changes, greasing, and cleaning of all leased, owned, and rented equipment
  • Operate and maintain field service vehicles
  • Direct work of assistants, instruct and train other employees
  • Perform non-critical welding
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and environmentally safe work site
  • Complete hazard assessments prior to performing work
  • Attend monthly and weekly safety calls and complete all safety-mandated training
  • Complete and document monthly shop and vehicle audits
  • Communicate with Fleet Supervisor, operations center, and local Line Supervisors
  • Be willing to work extended hours, alternate reporting locations, and storm travel outside Entergy's territory
  • Competently operate computer-based applications including Outlook, Service Suite, Web Time Entry, and Maximo

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in automotive industry OR automotive or related certificate/degree from accredited institution
  • Supply personal hand tools up to 1.5" drive
  • Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Obtain and maintain DOT medical card within 90 days of employment
  • Obtain and maintain Class A CDL license within 365 days of turning 21 or hire date
  • Obtain air brake inspector certification within 90 days of employment
  • Know company's safety rules and be willing and able to administer approved resuscitation methods and render first aid within 90 days
  • Know location of and be willing to operate life-saving devices (AED) and firefighting equipment within 30 days
  • Be willing and able to complete all industry certifications and manufacturer training applicable to the role
  • Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions

Desired

  • 3–5 years' hands-on experience maintaining hydraulic, mechanical, electrical systems on mobile hydraulic and medium heavy-duty trucks
  • Experience or certification in welding and fabrication
  • Fluid Power Certification or ability to pass Fluid Power Test within 1 year

Location

Onsite in Mississippi; on-call for extended hours and storm travel outside Entergy's territory; field service vehicle operation to various job sites required.
