Required qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Journeyman Machinist/Millwright with minimum 5 years experience; understanding of mechanical/electronic tools, instruments, controls, measuring devices, gauges, mechanical equipment and piping systems; familiarity with steam boilers, turbine-generators, motors, pumps, heaters, water chemistry equipment and simple loop controls; computer proficiency; successful completion of EEI POSS/MASS test; 5 years power plant operations and/or maintenance experience
About this role
Mechanical Technician at Entergy's nuclear power generation facility in Louisiana. Perform routine and emergency maintenance on reactor plant equipment, including machinist/millwright work, equipment alignment, welding, and multi-skill maintenance. Work with turbine generators, large pumps, and safety-critical systems during unit outages and normal operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate machine tool equipment (Bridgeport, lathe) as Journeyman Machinist/Millwright and perform large/small equipment alignment
- Execute welding and multi-skill maintenance activities; identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment problems
- Perform maintenance including minor electrical, instrument and controls work, inspection and repair on power plant systems
- Monitor turbine generators and large pumps; apply understanding of power plant systems for safe isolation/restoration during maintenance
- Provide contractor management, quality control, cost and schedule management during unit outages
- Ensure adherence to Corporate, Environmental, Plant and OSHA safety standards; available for unscheduled call-outs
Preferred qualifications
Machinist/Millwright apprenticeship or trade school diploma/degree; 10 years Journeyman Machinist/Millwright experience; Machinist/Millwright certificate; experienced pump mechanic
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite in Westwego, Louisiana. Up to 25% travel. Safety-sensitive position subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.
