Systems Operator in Training (SO-IT) - Plant Farley

12-month Systems Operator in Training (SOIT) program at Plant Farley (Columbia, AL). Progression through NRC-structured classroom and on-the-job training to qualify as a licensed Systems Operator at a commercial nuclear power plant. Pathway to Reactor Operator license.

Complete SOIT classroom curriculum and on-the-job training throughout plant. Acquire and demonstrate knowledge of plant systems, equipment, and nuclear theory. Operate and monitor plant systems under supervision; record operating data and perform surveillance testing. Pursue Reactor Operator (RO) license qualification. Perform heavy manual duties in indoor/outdoor environments, including Radiological Controlled Areas. Serve on Plant Fire Brigade; perform emergency response duties as assigned. Maintain satisfactory performance in system operator requalification program.

Associate's degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent; OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology (graduation by Q4 2026); OR prior experience as non-licensed operator at commercial nuclear plant; OR 24+ months Navy Nuclear experience (MM, EM, ET, Reactor Operator, EOW/PPWO, EWS/PPWS). Valid driver's license. Nuclear Plant Access Authorization eligibility. POSS Nuclear Test qualification. Respirator qualifiable. Fire Brigade qualifiable. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, oral/written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Safety-minded with commitment to personal development.

Navy nuclear experience. Self-motivated, team-oriented mindset.

Columbia, AL (Houston County). Shift work including nights, weekends, holidays; available for callout and overtime. Must work in temperature extremes, varying heights, and Radiological Controlled Areas.
