About this role
Supervise and coordinate radiation protection programs at the Callaway Energy Center nuclear facility in mid-Missouri. This role ensures personnel safety, efficient operations, and plant integrity through management of dosimetry, contamination control, ALARA compliance, and radiological emergency response.
Responsibilities
- —Supervise and coordinate implementation of radiation protection programs including external/internal dosimetry, counting room operations, radioactive effluents management, environmental monitoring, contamination control, housekeeping, decontamination, radiation work permits, and radiological surveys
- —Oversee respiratory protection, fixed/portable/laboratory radiation protection instrumentation calibration, radiation protection job coverage, radioactive material accountability, and ALARA/exposure control programs
- —Provide personnel and coordinate work requirements in the Radiological Controlled Area (RCA) with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance Departments
- —Supervise temporary contractor radiation protection personnel during plant outages
- —Supervise assigned personnel including scheduling work assignments, approving timework records, and initiating disciplinary measures as appropriate
- —Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties and respond to assigned ERO facilities within required Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) response times
Qualifications
- —High School diploma or equivalent
- —Five or more years of experience in applied Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Radiochemistry, or Radwaste activities (up to one year of supervisory experience in a nuclear power plant may count toward this requirement)
- —Two or more years of nuclear power plant experience
- —Good analytical, human relations, and communication skills
- —Successful completion of First Line Supervisor Test with recommended status
- —Permanent residence established within sixty highway miles of Callaway Energy Center
- —Security clearance for Callaway Energy Center access
Desired
- —National Registry Radiological Protection Technologist (NRRPT) certification
Location
Standard day shift in office/plant environment, mid-Missouri; occasional back-shift, overtime, weekend work, or outage schedule required; on-site at Callaway Energy Center.
