Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
  • Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator license with 5 years of applied Radiation Protection experience, OR
  • Associate's degree with 7 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
  • High school diploma/GED with 9 years of applied Radiation Protection experience
  • Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements
  • Favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties

About this role

Supervise Radiation Protection Technicians at a nuclear facility, managing decontamination, instrumentation, training, and radiation exposure control programs. Ensure compliance with NRC/state regulatory requirements and maintain ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) standards for nuclear workers.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily supervision, monitoring, and coaching of Radiation Protection Technicians to ensure productive, compliant workforce
  • Manage day-to-day Radiation Protection program operations, ensuring timely work completion and ALARA compliance
  • Oversee decontamination, instrumentation, planning, scheduling, procedures, training, and radiation waste programs
  • Supervise hiring, training, and field oversight of Laborers/RPTs performing plant cleaning and equipment decontamination
  • Manage plant contaminated square footage and personnel contamination events performance metrics
  • Interface with Plant Staff and regulators on Radiation Protection program implementation
  • Communicate company programs, policies, and announcements to assigned employees; collect employee feedback
  • Support emergency response, departmental coverage, and outage activities as directed
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and state requirements

Preferred qualifications

  • Successful completion of National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) certification
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g., health physics, chemistry, physics, medical physics)

Location, schedule, and travel

Onsite nuclear facility operations; subject to emergency response and outage activities.
