About this role
Supervise Radiation Protection Technicians at a nuclear facility, managing decontamination, instrumentation, training, and radiation exposure control programs. Ensure compliance with NRC/state regulatory requirements and maintain ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) standards for nuclear workers.
Responsibilities
- —Direct daily supervision, monitoring, and coaching of Radiation Protection Technicians to ensure productive, compliant workforce
- —Manage day-to-day Radiation Protection program operations, ensuring timely work completion and ALARA compliance
- —Oversee decontamination, instrumentation, planning, scheduling, procedures, training, and radiation waste programs
- —Supervise hiring, training, and field oversight of Laborers/RPTs performing plant cleaning and equipment decontamination
- —Manage plant contaminated square footage and personnel contamination events performance metrics
- —Interface with Plant Staff and regulators on Radiation Protection program implementation
- —Communicate company programs, policies, and announcements to assigned employees; collect employee feedback
- —Support emergency response, departmental coverage, and outage activities as directed
- —Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and state requirements
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree with 5 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
- —Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator license with 5 years of applied Radiation Protection experience, OR
- —Associate's degree with 7 years of applied radiation protection experience, OR
- —High school diploma/GED with 9 years of applied Radiation Protection experience
- —Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements
- —Favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
Desired
- —Successful completion of National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) certification
- —Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g., health physics, chemistry, physics, medical physics)
Location
Onsite nuclear facility operations; subject to emergency response and outage activities.
