Structural Analyst Engineer
About this role
Conduct advanced finite element analyses (FEA) and engineering evaluations on nuclear safety-class components and piping systems. Support projects including long-term operation assessments, seismic qualification, and plant modifications across international nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- —Perform structural mechanics engineering evaluations and finite element analyses using ANSYS (APDL and Workbench) to verify nuclear power plant component qualification against applicable standards
- —Execute hand calculations and stress analysis for nuclear components, including fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments
- —Document technical analyses in English and propose integrated solutions to complex structural challenges
- —Participate in international project teams, communicate with stakeholders, and provide on-site engineering support at nuclear power plants as needed
- —Progress toward technical expertise, project management, or leadership roles based on performance
Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering; 1+ years experience in structural analysis or similar engineering role; knowledge of nuclear industry standards and mechanical component stress analysis, fatigue, and fracture mechanics; proficiency with finite element analysis software (ANSYS APDL and Workbench); fluent in English and Spanish.
Desired
Experience with nuclear safety-class component design and qualification; familiarity with NRC or international nuclear regulatory standards.
Location
Madrid, Spain (Westinghouse headquarters in San Sebastián de los Reyes); hybrid work schedule with potential travel to nuclear power plants for on-site support.
