Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer (Master's degree in engineering may substitute for B.S.)
  • Minimum 6 years of engineering experience (or 5 years with Professional Engineer registration) attained at a 'Fully Meets' performance level
  • Must be badged for nuclear site unescorted access or able to obtain unescorted access within reasonable timeframe
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship

About this role

Senior-level nuclear engineer supporting Duke Energy's power uprate initiatives at Catawba, McGuire, and Brunswick plants. Develop expertise in plant systems, design basis, and multi-year capital projects with minimal supervision. Based at Brunswick Nuclear Plant with hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with site and corporate teammates to coordinate work activities
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise in identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities to accomplish business goals and objectives
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation for complex problems and analyses
  • Support plant walkdowns, vendor interfaces, development of program/project documents, assistance with funding packages, and schedule development
  • Apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in handling assignments of increasing complexity

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • PMP or MBA certification
  • Proficiency in project management principles
  • Experience with nuclear power uprate projects
  • Experience at an operational nuclear power facility
  • Experience managing financial long-range plans for nuclear power plants
  • Experience with day-to-day nuclear site schedules and operations
  • Experience with oversight and vendor/contractor interfaces
  • Proficiency in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, and presenting recommendations

Location, schedule, and travel

Based at Brunswick Nuclear Plant; hybrid work (onsite and remote); 5–15% travel required; onsite plant visits based on project needs.
