Senior Manager, Interconnection Services
About this role
Senior Manager leading generator interconnection processes for Westinghouse's advanced reactor projects at the Juno Beach, FL facility. Manage feasibility studies, regulatory compliance, and grid connection strategies by partnering with ISOs, RTOs, and transmission providers to position projects for successful grid integration.
Responsibilities
- —Perform interconnection and injection studies using PowerGEM, PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA to identify optimal project locations and grid integration points
- —Manage generator interconnection application processes, ensuring compliance with ISO/RTO timelines and regulatory requirements
- —Review system impact studies, facility studies, and network upgrade costs to assess grid feasibility
- —Coordinate with internal teams (development, engineering, construction) and external stakeholders (ISO/RTOs, utilities, transmission providers)
- —Analyze grid constraints, reliability standards, and transmission planning criteria per NERC standards to guide project decisions
- —Lead technical negotiations with transmission providers to optimize interconnection solutions and reduce costs
- —Develop strategies to minimize curtailment and improve interconnection outcomes
- —Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and transmission policies to inform interconnection strategy
Qualifications
- —5+ years of experience with power flow, short-circuit, and stability analysis tools (PowerGEM, PSS/E, ASPEN, TARA)
- —Demonstrated expertise in power systems analysis, transmission planning, and generator interconnection processes
- —Knowledge of ISO/RTO interconnection procedures, NERC reliability standards, and transmission regulations (FERC Order 2023 preferred)
