Senior Health Physics Technician
About this role
Westinghouse seeks Senior Health Physics Technicians to provide radiation protection coverage and oversight at nuclear power plants across the United States. Responsibilities include radiation surveys, contamination monitoring, personnel and material release authorization, ALARA program support, and emergency plan implementation.
Responsibilities
- —Provide radiation protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activities
- —Conduct radiation and contamination surveys on materials and equipment
- —Authorize release of personnel and material from controlled areas
- —Escort materials in accordance with radiation safety protocols
- —Develop and support ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) planning initiatives
- —Assist with decontamination activities
- —Support Site Emergency Plan implementation
Qualifications
- —Senior Health Physics Technician certification 3.1A or above
- —2,000 hours of commercial nuclear power experience combined with systematic approach to training (for 3.1A certification)
- —Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards
- —Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control
Location
Onsite at various nuclear power plant locations throughout the United States
