Decontamination Technician
About this role
Decontamination Technician supporting Westinghouse nuclear operations at Waterford, CT. Perform decontamination and housekeeping in Radiological Control Areas, operate specialized equipment (high-pressure washers, RP meters, small cranes), and maintain compliance with nuclear plant safety requirements and NRC regulations.
Responsibilities
- —Perform housekeeping and decontamination activities in all Radiological Control Areas
- —Operate test equipment and machines including high-pressure washers, laundry machines, RP meters, pendant cranes, and hoists
- —Complete training and certification for equipment operation (high-pressure sprayers, vacuums, small cranes)
- —Work in adverse conditions including high temperatures, confined spaces, and at multiple heights (ladder climbing, up to 50 lbs lifting)
- —Understand and follow oral/written communications, technical procedures, and directives associated with nuclear plant operations
- —May certify to decontamination-specific tasks as directed by the Radiation Protection department
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; pass drug test and security background check; maintain unescorted access to nuclear facility; ability to climb ladders and work at heights; ability to lift 50 lbs regularly; physical qualification for respirator use if required.
Location
Onsite at Waterford, CT facility. Work occurs in high temperatures and confined spaces. Respirator physical and training may be required.
