Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program, or equivalent per required engineering criteria
- Senior Engineer: Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems, cyber security, system administration, Windows operating systems security and networks
- Staff Engineer: Minimum 8 years of experience in control systems, cyber security, system administration, Windows operating systems security and networks
- Strong understanding of ICS cybersecurity principles, including CISA and NIST guidance and NERC CIP compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and industrial communications protocols (OPC, Modbus, DNP—ethernet and serial)
- Skilled in interpreting compliance requirements and translating them into actionable procedures, job aids, reports, and record-keeping systems
- Experience administering security technologies including antivirus, whitelisting, malware prevention, asset inventory systems, and workstation/server protection
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to work independently and in teams under pressure
About this role
Dominion Energy South Carolina seeks a Senior or Staff Engineer to lead Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Cyber Security initiatives for nuclear and fossil power generation operations. This role bridges IT and plant operations to ensure NERC CIP compliance, system modernization, and cybersecurity across operational technology (OT) infrastructure at generating stations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with power generation stations, contractors, IT, and internal departments to support ICS and OT cybersecurity, compliance, modernization, and lifecycle support
- Support system architecture development, installation, connectivity, troubleshooting, and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NERC CIP and Dominion Energy standards
- Facilitate projects, maintain documentation, develop policy procedures, perform security assessments, and prepare reports for corporate and regulatory entities
- Monitor cybersecurity trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements to implement appropriate mitigations
- Act as liaison between IT and plant operations, coordinating resources and overseeing quality assurance for control systems and cybersecurity
- Schedule and support computer system maintenance, communications, and improvements with internal teams and contractors
Preferred qualifications
- Experience managing ICS networks, switches, and firewalls with incident analysis and root cause investigation expertise
- Experience in Power Generation Utility or Industrial Manufacturing setting
- Project management and scheduling expertise with strong organizational and analytical skills
Location, schedule, and travel
Cayce, SC; office work 51–75%, travel 26–50%; exposure to dust/grease/oil, energized wires, fumes, heat, loud noise, cold, confined spaces, outdoors, and pressurized lines up to 25% each.
