Senior Engineer
About this role
Lead finite element analysis (FEA) for safety-related reactor coolant system (RCS) components at Westinghouse, supporting operating nuclear plants and AP1000 advanced reactor designs. Develop and execute design solutions from preliminary through final stages, qualifying components using ANSYS-based thermal and structural analysis and Westinghouse engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- —Develop and execute design and analysis plans from preliminary through final design, translating performance and structural requirements into compliant engineering solutions
- —Qualify component designs using ANSYS-based thermal and structural FEA, closed-form analytical methods, and Westinghouse internal engineering standards
- —Improve analysis quality and efficiency by implementing advanced methods, automation, and innovative tools
- —Collaborate with systems, manufacturing, and component teams to ensure effective subsystem integration and resolve complex design and production issues
- —Partner with project managers and technical leads to align technical scope, schedules, and resources across programs
- —Demonstrate accountability by delivering high-quality engineering work that meets safety, quality, and schedule expectations
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering); minimum 6 years of experience, or 4 years with an advanced degree; proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL)
