Senior Engineer
About this role
Senior Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse supporting design, analysis, and qualification of reactor vessel internals and primary pressure boundary components for operating PWR/BWR fleet, AP1000, and AP300 reactors. Role involves finite element simulation, compliance with NRC/ASME codes, and cross-functional collaboration with national labs, suppliers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- —Use finite element simulations (ANSYS) and hand calculations to qualify component design
- —Collaborate with component, system, and manufacturing leads on subsystem integration and emergent design issues
- —Work with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules
- —Identify and define technical issues, risks, and challenges; direct resolution efforts
- —Apply engineering rigor to loosely or partially defined problems requiring discipline-specific knowledge
- —Incorporate industry, regulatory, NRC/DOE/ASME codes, standards, and criteria in design activities
- —Provide technical guidance and collaborate with partners including national laboratories, sub-contractors, suppliers, fabricators, and customers
Qualifications
- —BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Aerospace Engineering
- —Minimum 5 years of applicable experience
- —Component structural analysis experience
- —Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Desired
- —MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- —Experience with ASME Section III and Section XI criteria
- —Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience with ANSYS/ABAQUS
- —Reactor Vessel Internals (RVI) knowledge
- —Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Location
Onsite 4 days per week (transitioning to 2 days per week), Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
