Security Officer Trainee
About this role
Armed Security Officer Trainee for Constellation's nuclear facilities. Protect nuclear power stations against radiological threats, sabotage, and theft of special nuclear material. Conduct patrols, control access to security areas, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to contingency events as a member of the Armed Response Force. This is a federally regulated armed security position requiring extensive training and qualification to maintain nuclear unescorted access.
Responsibilities
- —Conduct armed stationary, foot, and vehicle patrols (interior and exterior)
- —Control access and egress of personnel, materials, and vehicles to security areas
- —Perform search activities and inspections per Station Security Plan and post orders
- —Monitor CCTV, plant surveillance equipment, and alarm systems
- —Respond to threats and contingency events as member of Armed Response Force
- —Perform equipment testing and maintenance
- —Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations
- —Maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping per federal and corporate guidelines
- —Participate in initial and annual formal training to maintain armed Nuclear Security Officer qualifications
- —Maintain thorough knowledge of plant systems to support site defensive strategy
- —Perform emergency response duties, department coverage, and outage support as assigned
Qualifications
- —At least 21 years of age
- —High School diploma or GED
- —Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear unescorted access
- —Meet minimum state requirements to carry a firearm
- —Valid driver's license
- —REAL ID or REAL ID-compliant ID per REAL ID ACT
- —Pass state and federal required training for firearms licensing
- —Pass drug and alcohol test with negative results (including THC/marijuana)
- —Pass extensive background check including criminal history, references, employment/educational verification, and credit check
- —Pass psychological assessment and physical exams (vision and hearing)
- —Successfully complete physical fitness test, firearms qualification, and nuclear site-specific training
- —Ability to operate radio, telephone equipment, console monitors, and surveillance equipment
- —Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- —Ability to transit work location and conduct routine rounds (walk, climb stairs/ladders)
- —Ability to access and egress Bullet Resistant Enclosure (BRE) towers
- —Ability to manually carry, lift, or handle gear up to 25 lbs
- —Body positioning ability (stand, sit, kneel, bend, squat, reach over shoulder height)
- —Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and forced overtime

Onsite at Constellation nuclear power facility; 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and forced overtime; duties include access to elevated BRE towers and routine site patrols
