Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering) from an ABET-accredited four-year institution
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to transmission relay protection problems
- Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in the relay protection domain
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent math and project management skills
- PC proficiency and ability to manage multiple priorities

Relay Field Ops Support Engineer at Entergy supports transmission relay protection systems across the grid, performing engineering analysis, maintenance planning, design, and emergency restoration to ensure grid reliability and protective scheme integrity. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in relay protection, short circuit analysis, and NERC compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering analysis for transmission relay protection systems, including planning, maintenance, design, project management, and operations
- Design protection schemes and relay settings for transmission and distribution assets; apply short circuit fault analysis
- Support compliance with NERC, SERC standards and utility regulations; evaluate alternatives against applicable electrical codes and procedures
- Collaborate across Transmission organization disciplines and business units to achieve stated goals
- Assist with storm and emergency restoration efforts as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance field operations efficiency
Preferred qualifications
- At least 2 years of engineering experience in relay protection, transmission systems, or related discipline
- PE (Professional Engineer) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification
- Proficiency in short circuit fault analysis and relay protection/control systems
- Engineering technology degree with PE certification as alternative to Bachelor's degree
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite in Jackson, Mississippi; up to 25% travel required
