Principal Mechanical Engineer
About this role
Lead design and analyses of AP1000 and AP300 advanced reactors as Principal Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse. Direct technical teams on turbine-generator system integration, manage complex multi-disciplinary projects, and ensure compliance with NRC, DOE, and ASME codes while meeting schedule and budget targets.
Responsibilities
- —Lead design and analyses of AP1000 and AP300 power plants
- —Integrate turbine generator and related subsystems with component, system, and manufacturing leads
- —Address emergent design, specification, and procurement issues
- —Develop functional and qualification testing plans with testing organization
- —Develop project schedules coordinating subsystem/component leads and project managers
- —Lead complex technical projects, coordinating diverse teams to meet schedule and budget requirements
- —Identify, define, and direct resolution of technical issues, risks, and challenges
- —Apply NRC, DOE, and ASME codes, standards, and regulatory criteria in design activities
- —Provide technical guidance and collaborate with national laboratories, sub-contractors, partners, suppliers, fabricators, and customers
Qualifications
- —BS in Mechanical Engineering
- —Mechanical PE license
- —Minimum 8+ years of experience (or 6 years with an advanced degree)
- —Experience in turbine island system and component level design and integration
- —Significant experience in technical leadership role as individual contributor and team lead
- —Experience developing designs and resolving complex technical issues
- —US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Desired
- —Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
- —Advanced degree in nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, or materials science
- —Significant experience with nuclear, fossil, and/or cogen power plant turbine island systems and equipment
- —10+ years of applicable experience
Location
Hybrid (2 days/week onsite): Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC
