Principal Engineer
About this role
Lead hardware engineering for Eagle Safety Systems, Westinghouse's nuclear safety instrumentation platform deployed in commercial power plants. Develop new digital and analog designs while supporting legacy microprocessor-based systems. This contract-to-hire role combines advanced design work with obsolescence mitigation and customer technical support.
Responsibilities
- —Lead advanced hardware engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving for nuclear safety instrumentation
- —Provide technical leadership throughout design, development, and delivery of complex engineering solutions
- —Support legacy Eagle Safety Systems, including board and component-level obsolescence mitigation
- —Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues remotely and onsite
- —Mentor senior and junior engineers to develop team technical capability
- —Manage complex technical projects: prepare technical descriptions, maintain schedules, direct resources, oversee deliverables
- —Lead technical problem-solving for Eagle MultiBus Systems
- —Develop and review technical documentation for products and services
- —Create and refine procedures, processes, and methods to meet nuclear safety requirements
Qualifications
7–10 years of hardware engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in leading complex engineering projects. Strong background in both digital and analog hardware design, with ability to mentor and influence engineering teams. Proven track record resolving complex system issues and presenting technical content to diverse audiences.
