Principal Engineer
About this role
Principal Engineer at Westinghouse leading medium-sized engineering teams (10–30 members) on reactor component upgrades and major modifications for operating commercial nuclear plants. Responsibilities span proposal development, design documentation, cost estimation, project management, and customer negotiations.
Responsibilities
- —Support proposal process inputs and develop cost estimates/offers for operating plant support and modifications
- —Author project management plans with scope, schedule, cost baselines, risk registers, and stakeholder registers per Westinghouse PMO standards
- —Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety hardware/tooling, including manufacturing drawings, functional/design specifications, and qualification reports
- —Lead and manage medium-sized teams (10–30 members) on assigned projects
- —Drive customer negotiations and cultivate stakeholder relationships in matrix environment
- —Identify and implement improvement/recovery opportunities for project delivery
- —Maintain project management systems and provide accurate status reports to senior management
- —Support financial planning and spending forecasts on assigned projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related technical discipline; 5+ years of applicable experience
Desired
Familiarity with commercial nuclear industry; global work experience; business acumen
Location
Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA; hybrid work arrangement
