About this role
Mid-level electrical or mechanical project engineer supporting new nuclear development at AEP's two sites: Rockport, IN and Joshua Falls, VA. Report to project managers at corporate headquarters in Columbus, OH. Apply intermediate engineering expertise to nuclear project planning, technical analysis, system integration, cost forecasting, and cross-functional coordination.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level engineering analysis on nuclear development projects using theory and analytical techniques
- Analyze technical problems systematically, break into components, and perform required engineering analysis
- Understand system interrelationships and component equipment interactions to recommend design enhancements
- Coordinate work activities across departments and work groups to complete routine and complex project tasks
- Develop cost forecasts for projects and prepare improvement requisitions
- Apply scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts) for budget planning and timeline management
- Initiate corrective actions when project objectives are at risk
- Identify and escalate issues beyond routine scope to senior engineers and project managers
- Develop and present technical reports, studies, and analyses
- Train and mentor lower-level engineering staff
- Network with peers and stakeholders to facilitate project execution
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program
- Project management experience
- Familiarity with utility regulation and financing
- Understanding of economic analysis techniques
Location, schedule, and travel
On-site at Columbus, OH headquarters (relocation assistance available). Daily office work with travel to project sites in Rockport, IN and Joshua Falls, VA as needed.
