Nuclear Electrician (Journeyman)- Plant Hatch
About this role
Journeyman Electrician position at Plant Hatch (Southern Nuclear) performing preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on nuclear safety-related and non-safety-related electrical components. This is a union role requiring Emergency Response Organization availability with 90-minute response capability to the Baxley, Georgia site.
Responsibilities
- —Test, repair, maintain, overhaul, and modify all electrical plant components in accordance with nuclear procedures
- —Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on both safety-related and non-safety-related equipment
- —Work on energized and de-energized equipment following procedures and prints to install, maintain, and repair power plant equipment
- —Troubleshoot equipment and properly use electrical test equipment (multimeter, amprobe, megger, etc.)
- —Assemble and disassemble components using proper rigging and lifting techniques
- —Investigate plant equipment failures and deficiencies with Engineering Department, Shop Supervisor, and vendors
- —Perform Quality Control (QC) activities
- —Participate in and complete the Maintenance Training Program as required
- —Guide, direct, and train other employees as required
- —Work shift work and potentially as a job lead for electrical maintenance jobs
- —Maintain proficiency and undergo periodic re-certification as mandatory
Qualifications
- —High School diploma/GED
- —3 years Nuclear Journeyman Electrician experience OR 5 years equivalent critical industry electrical maintenance experience
- —Demonstrate competency through EEI MASS pre-employment test at the nuclear level
- —Ability to read and follow procedures and electrical drawings/prints
- —Knowledge to troubleshoot electrical circuits and controls using prints and test equipment
- —Ability to use various electrical test equipment (multimeter, amprobe, megger, etc.)
- —Ability to use powered and non-powered hand tools proficiently
- —Ability to plan work to maximize production
- —Good verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail
- —Ability to work efficiently as a member of a team
- —Demonstrate concern for safety of self and others
- —Live within 90 minutes of the plant site
Desired
- —Completion of Technical School with documented certification or certified completion of Accredited IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship Program
- —Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems; certification preferred
- —Knowledge of nuclear reactor systems and interrelationship
- —Previous HVAC/Chiller experience
- —Previous nuclear experience
Location
Baxley, Georgia; shift work required; Emergency Response Organization duties require 90-minute response time availability; union position with seniority-based shift and vacation selection.
