Required qualifications
- NDE Inspector: 2+ years of directly related NDE experience; Senior NDE Inspector: 5+ years of directly related experience
- Level II certification in three of the following: Liquid Dye Penetrant (PT-II), Magnetic Particle (MT-II), Radiography (RT-II), Ultrasonic (UT-II), Visual Testing (VT-II)
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Good written and verbal communication abilities
- Effective personal computer skills
- Ability to coordinate and lead contractors
- Ability to quickly process, analyze, and interpret technical information
About this role
NDE Inspector role at Dominion's Millstone Nuclear Station performing nondestructive examinations of reactor and power plant components during scheduled and forced outages. Conduct inspections using PT, MT, RT, UT, and VT methods, coordinate repair work, and provide technical guidance to engineering and maintenance teams on test result interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Perform nondestructive examinations (NDE) on power plant components using Liquid Dye Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), and Visual Testing (VT)
- Monitor and coordinate repairs resulting from NDE inspections
- Coordinate work activities of scaffolding, insulating, and surface preparation crews during refueling outages
- Provide technical NDE guidance to engineering, maintenance, and operating departments on test result interpretation
- Coordinate work of contract personnel and inspectors
- Update and maintain inspection logs, records, and files
- Check and repair NDE test equipment
- Review NDE procedures and inspection plans
- Travel to stations to provide NDE support for outages
Preferred qualifications
Associate degree in Technical Studies or related discipline
Location, schedule, and travel
Millstone Nuclear Station site; up to 25% travel to other stations; office environment 76–100%; occupational exposure to cold, heat, loud noise, radiation, dust/grease/oil, and energized wires up to 25% of time
