MOV Technician
About this role
Short-term contract MOV technician role supporting Westinghouse's nuclear operations. Install, repair, and maintain motor-operated valves and control devices at nuclear facilities. 40–72 hours per week, 100% travel for 4–6 week assignments.
Responsibilities
- —Install, repair, replace, and conduct post-maintenance functional testing, diagnostics, and calibration of motor-operated valves (MOVs) and control devices
- —Test and calibrate instrumentation; inspect, troubleshoot, and perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks using appropriate gauges and tools
- —Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement plans
- —Complete work orders with accurate documentation of tasks and daily field activity logs
- —Ensure safety of self and team; follow lockout/tag out requirements and use appropriate PPE (respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, hard hats)
- —Perform tasks in confined spaces, high-temperature areas, and elevated heights
- —Report to On-Site Manager and comply with Quality, Radiological, Human Performance, and nuclear program norms
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or equivalent
- —5+ years hands-on experience in general valve maintenance and MOV/actuator valve maintenance
- —Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- —U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations
- —Proficiency with basic hand tools, electrical instruments, and diagnostic tools
- —Satisfactory performance rating from previous work
- —Pass all pre-employment and employment screening: practical/written skills assessments, medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screenings
- —Ability to maintain focus for extended periods and read/write complex documents in English
- —Willingness to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and holidays

- —Vocational or technical training; EPRI qualifications
Location
100% travel required; 4–6 week assignments; 40–72 hours per week; work in confined spaces, high-temperature areas, and elevated heights; shifts, weekends, and holidays required.
