Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear)
About this role
System Engineer providing technical support for plant systems, components, and related programs at a nuclear facility. Resolves day-to-day plant issues, maintains configuration control, and ensures reliability and performance of assigned systems while serving as a key interface between Engineering and station departments.
Responsibilities
- —Identify and resolve plant issues, including those arising from significant events and complex technical challenges
- —Provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations for troubleshooting equipment, systems, and emergent conditions
- —Develop and issue engineering changes, including design modifications and temporary alterations, in support of plant needs and equipment reliability
- —Maintain Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualifications and perform associated duties as required
- —Provide technical information and guidance related to program bases, performance requirements, compliance status, and industry operating experience
- —Conduct condition-based monitoring of equipment and optimize preventative maintenance activities using feedback from Maintenance and program reviews
- —Plan, prioritize, and support project lifecycle activities, including corrective action plans and improvement initiatives
- —Prepare engineering products in accordance with established standards, procedures, and quality expectations
- —Support changes in system and component configuration, design, and associated design basis
- —Monitor system performance, including trending, field walkdowns, deficiency identification, and priority setting
- —Perform failure evaluations and support or lead root cause analyses, as needed
- —Ensure lessons learned from fleet operating experience are incorporated into site programs and processes
- —Maintain required qualifications and complete training necessary for assigned duties
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR a related physical science discipline associated with power plant operations, OR equivalent work experience demonstrating success at the engineer/technical specialist level
- —Engineer I: 0–2 years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent experience
- —Engineer II: 2–3 years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent experience
- —Engineer III: 4–5 years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent experience
- —Engineer Sr.: 8+ years based on overall experience and prior role evaluations
- —Proficiency in PC applications, engineering tools, and analytical systems appropriate to the engineering level
Desired
- —SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR
- —Professional Engineering (PE) license
Location
Onsite in Russellville, Arkansas; up to 25% travel; no relocation offered
