Mechanical Engineer 1
About this role
Mechanical Engineer supporting design and construction of mechanical power plant equipment and components for nuclear mega-projects and advanced reactors. Develop specifications, perform engineering analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver critical mechanical systems including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and auxiliary equipment.
Responsibilities
- —Develop pump, valve, heat exchanger, and auxiliary mechanical equipment design requirements for new plant builds or modifications
- —Write specifications and develop designs for mechanical equipment used in nuclear power plants
- —Perform engineering analysis and identify problems; propose solutions to assigned projects
- —Support senior engineering personnel in design and analysis efforts
- —Make sound technical evaluations to support critical engineering decisions
- —Communicate work status and technical findings to engineering leads and management
- —Collaborate with construction, instrumentation & control, electrical, and operations teams
- —Participate in customer, vendor, and regulator meetings to present technical materials and design justifications
- —Perform work within established scope, budgetary, and schedule requirements
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- —Minimum 3.0 GPA
Desired
- —Familiarity with MathCad, MATLAB, or VBA
- —Experience with ASME or API standards
- —Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) License
- —Understanding of technical design drawings and/or fabrication processes
Location
Hybrid position, 2–3 days per week on-site at Cranberry Township, PA; no relocation assistance provided
