Mechanical Engineer 1
About this role
Support Westinghouse nuclear plant design projects as a Mechanical Engineer. Design and evaluate piping, HVAC, seismic assessments, fuel handling systems, and hazard protection for advanced reactor plants. Work across multiple disciplines including systems, equipment, structures, and physical plant arrangement using 3D modeling and analysis tools.
Responsibilities
- —Perform physical arrangement of nuclear island structures, equipment, piping, and support systems using 3D design software
- —Conduct hazards evaluations including seismic interaction, internal/external missile assessments, flooding evaluations, and hazard protection designs
- —Author, review, and verify engineering designs using Westinghouse WNEXUS digital design architecture
- —Read and interpret engineering drawings, criteria documents, and conduct in-depth reviews of 3D plant models
- —Prepare regulatory, code, and customer contract compliance reports
- —Provide engineering support to design, fabrication, and construction teams; respond to RFIs and address design changes
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; minimum GPA 3.0; pursue Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
Location
Cranberry Township, PA; hybrid (2 days/week on-site); relocation not provided
