Required qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related scientific/physical science discipline associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience
- Nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent experience (0–7 years depending on level: Engineer I 0–2 years, Engineer II 2–3 years, Engineer III 3–4 years, Sr. Engineer 4–5 years, Sr. Lead 5–7 years)
- Good to excellent communication skills and proficiency with PC applications
About this role
Design and develop mechanical engineering modifications for Entergy Nuclear plants reporting to the Manager of Project Engineering. Create engineering design packages, manage design basis calculations, and serve as design authority for the site. Career progression from Engineer I (0–2 years) through Sr. Lead (5–7 years) based on experience in nuclear power design and operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering design modification packages per defined standards and procedures, ensuring designs maintain plant design basis and represent optimum alternatives
- Complete and revise engineering calculations supporting plant design modifications; coordinate with plant departments to minimize downtime and maximize power generation
- Deliver timely, constructible, economic, and maintenance-friendly modification designs; oversee development of drawings, specifications, and designs for major plant modifications
- Interface with regulatory and industry representatives; serve on outage engineering support teams and act as design authority for the site
- Implement fleet lessons learned and industry good practices across sites; maintain qualifications for required group functions
Preferred qualifications
- RO/SRO license or certification on PWR or BWR
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite at Arkansas Nuclear One Plant, Russellville, Arkansas. Up to 25% travel required; additional hours and alternate locations required for storms, outages, and emergencies.
