About this role
Westinghouse Machinist III role fabricating precision nuclear components and instruments. You'll perform complex machining operations on specialty materials to exacting tolerances, working from engineering drawings and specifications. This is a skilled trades position supporting nuclear energy manufacturing and prototype development.
Responsibilities
- Work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to fabricate complex machined components for nuclear applications
- Set up, adjust, and operate specialized machine tools and CNC equipment to perform precision machining operations
- Measure, examine, and test completed units using precision instruments to verify conformance to specifications
- Program and operate numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools using G and M codes
- Determine operating methods, sequences, and tooling feeds/speeds; lay out and fabricate precision parts and fixtures to exacting tolerances
- Support prototype development with design engineers on feasibility of prototype machine parts and assemblies
- Perform complex shop calculations for pattern layout and machining parameters
- Provide technical guidance to other machinists on specialized equipment operations
- Prepare recommendations for process improvements to enhance productivity and quality
